Our story began more than ten years ago with a shared passion for Ethiopia and a desire to forge authentic connections between people, cultures, and organizations. Over the years, a successful collaboration in the tourism industry has evolved into a strong network that today extends far beyond traditional travel.
Today, BUNA Ventures combines local expertise and personal relationships with international communication, a European approach to quality, and professional project management. Together, we support tour operators, companies, institutions, and organizations in organizing trips, events, delegations, and projects throughout Ethiopia.

The Founders
Katharina Ley - Co-Founder & Managing Director
Katharina Ley is an entrepreneur, tourism expert, and Ethiopia specialist with more than ten years of experience in international tourism and in developing projects between Europe and Ethiopia.
As the founder and managing director of MUKA Travel – the only tour operator specializing in Ethiopia in the DACH region – and co-founder of BUNA Ventures, she combines in-depth market knowledge with a strong network in Germany and Ethiopia.
Her work focuses on tourism development, international cooperation, delegations, business development, and project development.
Teketayi Abebe Mekuria - Co-Founder & General Manager
Teketayi Abebe Mekuria – Teke for short – has many years of experience in organizing and managing trips and projects throughout Ethiopia.
With his extensive network, his in-depth knowledge of the country, and his ability to bring people together, he is a key point of contact for implementing our activities on the ground.
For many years, Teke has been working with international guests, tour operators, institutions, and companies, ensuring that projects are carried out efficiently, professionally, and reliably.
